Exposed: Former SWAN President , Honor Sirawoo to face ICPC, EFCC over diversion of official documents, vehicles donated by former gov Wike

Members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN under the aegis of Transparency Group, SWAN TG have initiated moves to drag the immediate former past president of the association, Honour Sirawoo before anti-graft agencies over alleged diversion of properties belonging to the association.

It would be recalled that the national secretariat of the association had written to the former president requesting him to return all official properties of the association in his possession back to the national secretariat.

SWAN national secretariat, in the letter signed by the Secretary General of the association, Ikenna Okonkwo alleged that, Mr. Sirawoo, after relinquishing office as the national president of the association, Sirawoo is yet to formally handover the association to his successor, Mr. Benjamin Isaiah.

The SWAN Transparency Group have begun to mobilise like minds from across Nigeria, in the moves to petition ICPC and EFCC over the missing official vehicles and CAC documents.

An impeccable source, who confided in this reporter said "we are aware that former governor Nyesome Wike donated some vehicles to the association, presently, those vehicles are nowhere to be found.

"Also, the new SWAN leadership has no up-to-date financial documents detailing all finances of the association, because Sirawoo decided not to hand over the documents, we will take steps to make sure our members know what happened to their monies under Sirawoo.

"Identity cards fees running into millions of naira remain unaccounted for, he has refused to release the details of the website of the association, so that the actual data of those who register yearly with the association can be collated.

"Also, we are aware that SWAN enjoys large good will from Nigerians, therefore, SWAN received financial assistance from various quarters, this is also unaccounted for, SWAN letter head and cheque books were seriously used in manners that are not appropriate, all these will be investigated and reported back to our members all over Nigeria.

"We are working with like minds and relevant security authorities; we are on the verge of being formally informed to move into unravelling all the atrocities committed by Honour and his exco members, nobody will be left out provided you are involved in the squandering of the resources of the association."

It is gathered that, a team of legal and forensic experts have been approached to look into the suspected fraudulent actions carried out during the Sirawoo era.

The issues bordering on the diversion of SWAN national properties, ID card monies, donations received on behalf of the association from governments and dignitaries, withdrawal of monies from SWAN accounts without following due process, in collaboration with some members of the national exco, who served under Sirawoo, all constitute issues that will be brought under scrutiny.

A keen observer of the developments expressed worries over the fate of former SWAN president Honor Sorawoo and his treasurer one, Farouq from Kebbi state.

The observer said, "Honour has reached the pinnacle of his career as a civil servant and is now in NIPSS in Kuru, these allegations can have a daring consequence on his career, as a senior citizen and civil servant."

The source further said "If Honour insists on destabilising SWAN in Kano, he is in for a shock, I heard he kept boasting and telling people that he will teach Kano people how to play politics, every time he will say, he plays highwire politics and that he can handle all SWAN members. Honour will always say that SWAN members are hungry, I wonder what makes him feel SWAN members are hungry, he keeps saying he sends monies to members and that the association belongs to him, Sirawoo, he keeps boasting that nobody can take the association away from him.

"I guess he does know the cliff he is walking on, I wish him the best, the man from Gombe is misleading him and he will dump him when the die is cast, and escape to Morocco as he usually does, after leading Honour to the pit of hell."
