Edo 2024: Don't Trust Those Whose Mastery of Queen’s English has become a Tool of Deceit....Dr . Samson Osagie

Hon. Samson Osagie, PhD, a Legal Practitioner and former Minority Whip of the Federal House of Representatives, on Monday said that, never again should Edo people trust those whose mastery of Queen’s English has become a tool of deceit, ingratitude and unbridled contempt for the welfare of the downtrodden and destruction of their esteemed cultural/traditional values cum institutions.

Dr. Osagie who is also the Founder, Network For Grassroots Development in Edo State, said never again should Edo people allow such person to continue to destroy what people like Comrade Adams Oshiomole, Osaigbovo Ogbemudia and professor Ambrose Ali built.

The University Lecturer in an article that was made available to journalists in Abuja and titled: "TIME TO TAKE BACK EDO ON A PROGRESSIVE GOVERNANCE" said, "Edo is not an uncompleted building where strangers occupy and decide its use without considering the intentions of the building owner.

"Let’s deliver on the imperatives of a governance driven by our children who understand our needs and have contributed to our daily lives.

"I commend the APC Candidates of Senator Monday Okpebholo/Hon. Dennis Idahosa to all well-meaning Edo people for practical and progressive governance!

"It’s time again for electioneering and parties have nominated their candidates.

"Edo people have been served with a political buffet from which they have a choice to make in order to save themselves of constipation which they were served in the last seven and half years.

"For Edo people, the time for experimentation should be over by now. Between 2008 and 2016 they had a people oriented regime that ran a government that impacted visibly and immeasurably.

"Between 2016 and date Edo people had a huge dose of a governance that largely served them with promissory notes and virtual governance.

"Can they continue? NO

"So, for the September election, the choice should be clear between those who are loyal and understand the felt needs of the people and those who sojourn to Edo to continue virtual governance model and pillage of our collective patrimony to expand/sustain personal and professional business empire which we are told have been built by their years of capital accumulation in Lagos and other parts of the country (Edo excluded).

"Besides, experience has shown that Edo people are better off with those who they know and relate with in the years of their democratic journey. Those whose visible impacts in their immediate communities are visible to the blind. Those who profess extraordinary prowess in corporate governance and success in their capital accumulation in foreign lands have never helped us.

"In consequence of this, the Senator Monday Okpebholo/Hon. Dennis Idahosa APC gubernatorial ticket presents a clear and untainted choice for Edo people.

"These are young men whose personal and official investments in the state particularly in their immediate domain-constituencies are clearly evident. They have an ongoing mandate to represent their people just now and they are easily cognizable, relatable, well known and have lived with their people for years now.

"So, for Edo people, the theory of development imperative suggests that they must choose the act or process of growing, progressing, or developing on a trajectory that is not only sustainable but driven by actors whose loyalty to the state is undoubtedly irrevocable as against indigenous neo-colonialist who see Edo as a colony of experimentation and exploitation. "
