Mr Haruna Abdullahi, Acting Executive Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), says the service prioritises staff training.
This is contained in a statement by the FCT-IRS Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Mustapha Sumaila, on Monday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Abdullahi disclosed when the service was awarded the status of Approved Employer Recognition by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
The award was in recognition of its unrivalled effort toward building a competent and durable workforce.
While appreciating ACCA for the award, the FCT-IRS boss stated that the recognition was timely as it would give the service an edge in capacity building.
He said the recognition by ACCA reposed huge responsibility to the service to ensure proper staff training to uphold the service’s image.
The FCT-IRS boss assured the team of continuous partnership and collaboration in building a “new public sector” equipped with skilled, diligent, competent employees.
The ACCA Country Manager in Nigeria, Mr Tom Isibor, stated that the Approved Employer Recognition was an outstanding achievement packed with vast benefits which the service must explore.
He stressed that the recognition would afford the service access to a robust network of members and communities worldwide.
He further noted that the certification would afford the service access to ACCA collateral content and intellectual property.
This, according to him, will help build a productive, competent and efficient workforce.
“CCA Approved Employer Recognition would provide an accessible benchmark for employee growth and development.
“Equipping tax administrators with relevant knowledge, training and professional certification is an investment to boost revenue generation in the FCT,” he said.
