Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will today attend the investiture ceremony of Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno as President of the Transitional Team in the Republic of Chad for two years.

The ceremony, which will hold at the capital, N’Djamena, will further accentuate negotiations on peaceful and harmonious return to democratic process in the country, following the passing of the former President, Idriss Deby Itno.

 

Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, also known as Mahamat Kaka, is the son of the late Chadian President.

 

Idriss Déby Itno who died on April 20, 2021 of gunshot injuries on the front line while commanding his army against rebels from the Front for Change and Concord in Chad, FACT, during the Northern Chad offensive

 

Déby, 68, spent more than three decades in power and was one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.

 

 The Chadian Parliament and Government were both dissolved upon his death and a Transitional Military Council was formed in its place with his son as the chairman.
