It's incredibly hard to fathom that Bill and Melinda Gates have filed for divorce after 27 years of marriage. 

The development is even more shocking to children of the philanthropists with their eldest daughter Jennifer commenting that: 

"I'm still learning how to best support my own process and emotions as well as family members at this time, and am grateful for the space to do so." 

25 year-old Jennifer is not the only child born to Bill and Melinda. Meet the equestrian and two other kids who - asides not inheriting their father’s billions - will be navigating the next phases of their lives following the shocking divorce.

1. Jennifer Gates

We need not mention that she is the eldest, especially if you didn't skip the preceding paragraphs.

Notwithstanding, it's worthwhile to note that she was born on the 26th of April 1996, roughly two years after her parents walked down the aisle. 

Being the child of a billionaire didn't afford Jennifer all that she wished for. In fact, was somewhat grounded and wasn't allowed to own a phone until she was 14! 

Regarding her educational background, Jennifer schooled at her father’s alma mater - Lakeside High School in Seattle.

She went on to enroll in Stanford University where she graduated in 2018 with a degree in human biology. 

Upon graduation, Jennifer pursued her passion in Equestria before enrolling at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine.

What's more? She is engaged to professional showjumper Nayel. It may not be long before wedding bells ring for the duo. 

2. Rory Gates 

Rory is the only son of Bill and Melinda and arguably the most reserved member of the gates family. 

He was born on the 23rd day of May 1999 and went to Seattle’s private Lakeside School like his dad and sister. 

Rory also attended Seattle’s private Lakeside School before he reportedly attended the University of Chicago.

It is interesting to note that the 21-year-old is a feminist who is well-read on the subject of gender equality. 

What's more, he has an obsessive love of puzzles and time will tell what he channels his Ingenuity into. 

3. Phoebe Gates

To being with she is only 18 and we can't help but wonder if her parents waited for her to be 'this old enough' before announcing their split. 

Born on September 14, 2002, Phoebe perfectly looks and acts her age. 

Not much is known about her, save for the fact that she was an aspiring ballerina, who attender the Professional Children’s School in New York City. 

She also studied at The School of American Ballet at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, as well as The Juilliard School.
