The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, on Wednesday said it had deployed 125 personnel to ease traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr. Ahmed Umar, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun.

Umar said the deployment of the personnel had become necessary due to the ongoing construction work by Julius Berger on the expressway.

He added that the command had also deployed towing trucks for quick response to any breakdown or emergency, which might disrupt the free flow of traffic.

He explained that patrol vehicles from Abeokuta and Sagamu were on the ground to boost the operation of its personnel and check the excesses of drivers.

“We are appealing to motorists to exercise patience and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations as the expressway will soon get better,” he said.

Umar also said the FRSC was collaborating with the Police to apprehend motorists driving against traffic in order to prevent avoidable crashes.

The sector commander enjoined motorists to drive cautiously and cooperate with traffic managers to reduce the time spent in the gridlock.
