The House of Representatives on Thursday suspended the sales of five National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) Plants owned by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
In a live broadcast, members of the House of Representatives unanimously voted to suspend the sales pending the conclusion of the investigation into the issues surrounding the five power plants as well as resolution of the ownership of NDPHC with the states.
The investigation is to last four weeks.
BPE had on May 3, 2021, in its advertorial, announced that investors who plan to purchase 100 percent of power generation companies from the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) should declare their interests.

BPE said: “In continuation of the ongoing reforms of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry and consistent with the Nigerian Electric Power Policy and Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) Act 2005, Board of Directors of Niger Delta Power Holding Company(NDPHC) and the National Council on Privatisation have approved the sale of five generation companies located in Kogi, Edo, Cross River, Ondo and Ogun (constructed under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP)), through a Competitive Bidding process.
“These five in-service generation plants are known and referred to as Geregu Generation Company Limited; Benin(Ihovbor) Generation Company Limited; Calabar Generation Limited; Omotosho Generation Limited; and Olorunsogo Generation Company Limited respectively have the following gross installed capacities at ISO conditions; 506MW, 507MW, 634MW, 513MW, and 754MW respectively.
Submission of Expression of Interest closed on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 by 1.00pm Local time, according to the advertorial.
