The Defence Headquarters says its troops have arrested fake officials of National Identity Management Commission registering non-Nigerians in Niger Republic.
The NIMC operates and regulates matters of national identity in Nigeria, including issuing national identification number, NIN.
Nigeria shares border with Niger Republic.
At a biweekly press conference on Thursday, Director of Defence Media Operations, Musa Danmadami, said the fake officials were at Gagamari Internally Displaced Persons camp in Niger Republic to conduct NIN registration for non-Nigerians.
