The FCT Administration (FCTA) has evolved strategies to ensure a robust and sustainable supervisory framework to effectively coordinate and reposition the Area Councils’ programmes for effective service delivery.

The Mandate Secretary for Area Councils Service Secretariat, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho, made this known while giving an account of the activities of the secretariat from January to date, on Friday in Abuja.

Dantsoho also pledged that the secretariat would continue to build partnerships that would synchronise FCTA’s developmental efforts with development at the grassroots level.

He said that the secretariat was currently working towards creating a comprehensive database secured by cloud-based servers and a management information system streamlined in all area councils.

Dantsoho also said that the secretariat embarked on a tour of the area councils to further deliberate on issues of strengthening the Planning Research and Statistics Division of the six area councils.

This, he said, was to ensure effective and efficient data collection being part of the schedule request from the FCTA.

” The year 2022 kicked off as my management team and I embarked on a special tour of the six area councils and the 17 Chiefdoms.

” This was to enable us to discuss on how best to bring progress in the areas of health, security, and social amenities as well as improving the lifestyle of residents.

” The secretariat also engaged in a security and awareness programme on the role of youth in mitigating security issues and also was part of a programme on capacity training for the original Inhabitants and traditional rulers in the FCT.

” This was with a view to strengthening the traditional justice system and combat sexual and GBV and harmful traditional practices like the killing of twins,” Dantsoho said.

Similarly, the secretary said that the secretariat had been able to monitor and evaluate the status of the Health Care Facilities as well as the Drugs Revolving Scheme.

” From the Basic Health Care Provision Funds, the secretariat constructed the Antenatal and Immunization Hall at Gwagwalada township Primary Health Care Centre to enable the women to have access to antenatal services and boost immunisation activities.
