Abductors demand N200m ransom for Emir of Kajuru’s release

Kidnappers of the Emir of Kajuru in Kaduna State, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu and his family members are demanding for a ransom of N200 million.

The ransom note was revealed by spokesperson of the Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar.

The Kaduna monarch was earlier kidnapped by bandits in the early hours of Sunday in Kajuru town, at the headquarters of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Abducted alongside the 85-year-old monarch were 13 of his family members which included two grandchildren.

“Yes, the bandits have contacted us and they are demanding for N200 million as ransom,” Abubakar said. 

According to him, the entire people of the emirate are overwhelmed over the kidnapping of the traditional ruler and his family members.

“We are praying he will be released in good health. Apart from that, we have started offering special prayers for his quick return,” he added. 

The spokesman further revealed that the abductors assured that the 85-year-old monarch and his family were not being molested as they are all in good condition.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has said security agencies had been deployed to the forest to rescue the emir.
