The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) on Thursday commiserated with the Lagos State Government and victims of Thursday’s train crash with a staff bus which claimed six lives and injured many.

The council extended its condolences in a statement signed by the NCRIB’s President, Mr. Rotimi Edu, in Lagos.
A train operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) collided with a Lagos state Government staff bus at the Sogunle/ Ikeja axis of the state on Thursday morning.
At least six persons on the bus were confirmed dead, while 80 others sustained various injuries.
The ill-fated bus, with Lagos registration number 04A- 48LA, number 33, was heading to Alausa, Ikeja from Isolo, and in the process of beating other motorists at the PWD rail crossing, collided with a moving train.
Edu said the death of the six victims and injury sustained by many others, who were mainly public servants with the state government, was disheartening.
The council’s president called for proper management and control of the railway authority’s level crossing, especially in busy or high-density areas to avert similar disasters in the future.
Edu assured that any of the victims’ dependents or those injured and were insured would be adequately compensated by the insurance industry.
He commended Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for declaring three days of mourning, including a halt of electioneering campaigns in honor of the victims.
