FRSC mobilises personnel, logistics for hitch-free Eid-el-fitr celebration

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, says it has mobilized adequate personnel and logistics for a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Oyo State.

The Sector Public Education Officer, Chijioke Inyama, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.

Inyama said that a total of 1,700 officers, Marshals and Special Marshals have been deployed for the exercise.

He further said that 22 Vehicles, two Ambulances, a tow truck and motor bikes have also been deployed for safe travel during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

According to him, the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Joshua Adekanye, says the deployment will enhance the Corps’ visibility on major critical road corridors, ensure free flow of traffic and reduce road crashes.

He further said that a 24-hour rescue team is also on ground to respond promptly to road traffic crashes and victims and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways as the command engages in purposeful public enlightenment.

Inyama said that the command has engaged the haulage truck carrying passengers as a strategy to curtail the rising fatalities involving truck carrying passengers and mandated the personnel to apprehend vehicles that engage in carrying containers that are not latched.

He called on motorists to shun use of phone while driving, overloading, wrongful overtaking, right hand drive vehicles, non-use of seat belt, and driving against traffic.

Inyama said the sector commander commended the State Government and various construction companies handling major road projects in the state for carrying out palliative works on some damaged roads to ensure the smooth free flow of traffic.

He assured the motoring public that the command was collaborating with other sister security agencies and organisations to ensure safety on the roads.

Inyama urged motorists and residents of the state to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and ensure maximum compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
