The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated its commitment to the security and welfare of corps members posted to Borno State for the service year.
The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Mohammed Adamu-Jiya, gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream ‘II’ orientation course on Tuesday in Katsina.
The corps members posted to Borno State are being camped in Katsina due to the security challenges in the state.
Adamu-Jiya noted that the scheme always collaborate with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of the corps members.
He appreciated the security operatives for rendering selfless services throughout the orientation exercise and urged them to maintain the tempo.
The NYSC coordinator called on the corps members to respect the norms and values of their host communities throughout their one year in Borno.

He advised the corps members to use the social media wisely and desist from drug abuse and other criminal activities for a better future.
He also urged them to always be punctual at their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPA), and focus on their Community Development Service (CDS).
Adamu-Jiya enjoined them to always seek permission before embarking on any journey, desist from night travels, and be good ambassadors.
He called on the corps members to utilise the entrepreneurship skills acquired during the orientation to be self-reliant during and after the service.
According to him, the entrepreneurship programme was to equip them with other skills apart from their university knowledge for a better future.
The coordinator commended the Borno and Katsina state governors for their support and cooperation to the scheme that ensured the successful orientation exercise and called for more.
