A Dei-Dei Area Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered that a 40-year-old man, Murtala Mohammed, be remanded in a correction facility for allegedly defrauding a woman of N1 million.

The police charged the defendant who resides in Kubwa, Abujawith criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The trial judge, Malam Saminu Suleiman, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja, until June 27 after he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogade told the court that the complainant, Hajiya Khadija Abdullahi reported the matter at Dutse Alhaji Police Station on May 2.

Ogada said that sometime in December 2022 the defendant collected N 1million from the complainant and promised to get her son and four others enlisted in the military.

The offence. he said, contravened the provisions of the Penal Code.
