The one week training meeting is sponsored by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), an international organization based in Germany.

Rev. Fr Patrick Alumuku, Director of Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja told the media that the meeting began on June 24, and will be rounded up on July 2.

According to him, the aim is to improve the quality and programme content of the television stations.

“Six African countries are participating in the training programme and they include Cameroon, Ghana, Malawi, South Sudan, Uganda and Nigeria.

“Nigeria have been specially selected for the pilot training programme aimed at high quality production of television programmes and collaboration among sister Catholic televisions in Africa.

“It is hoped that during the conference, an association of catholic television stations in Africa would be formed for the purpose of exchanging programmes and knowledge,” he said.

Alumuku who is also the Director, Catholic Television Nigeria,  further said a team of German Cinematographers and Polish experts are leading the training sessions, attended by 21 participants.

Alumuku said that the participants will later pay courtesy visit to the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama.

He recalled that in 2023, eight staff members of Catholic Television Abuja had a major training in Ghana through the ACN partnership.
