Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo former Commissioner of Transport on Sunday called on Auwal Rafsanjani, Executive Director Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) to join hands with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN in building a better Aviation industry.
Hon. Omo-ojo Orobosa who was reacting to the recent comments credited to Auwal Rafsanjani said the uncouth outburst on a robust , time-tested Civil Rights Activist and human rights defender, left a sour taste in the mouths of well-meaning Nigerians - particularly, the Civil Society family, that has correctly praised President Bola Tinubu for locating and appointing Festus Keyamo SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
The former civil commissioner in Edo state and a vertaran journalist said the summary of Rafsanjani's pain is that, Keyamo is "hot tempered", "politically unstable" and daring to drag Mr President to Court on accountability issues several years ago.
The statement reads, " I believe both the president and Minister Keyamo need the applause of Rafsanjani for the two patriotic Nigerians to have put the past behind to forge a better country for our wellbeing.
"The president obviously realised that Keyamo acted then in his capacity as a solicitor and Civil Rights Advocate. Tinubu being a stickler for smart-intelligent-stoically grounded professionals, obviously discovered some rare qualities in him when they were on polar ends.
"Keyamo needs Rafsanjani's praise for accepting to serve Nigeria. As President Tinubu rightly puts it, the Ministers were appointed to serve the country, not him.
"Rafsanjani would also rather prefer "someone with a strong character, not somebody with temperament that can easily send away even airlines." How? If I may ask! Perhaps Rafsanjani should have defined his own meaning of 'character'.
"And how also, has being lukewarm helped strategic ministries in recent past? The aviation industry as a whole needs reworking and President Tinubu can only achieve this with a temperance man like Olorogun Festus Keyamo SAN. A man who is always ready to stand alone for what he believes in, not minding the danger to his life and personal interest. Such are the Nigerians our troubled nation urgently needs today and onwards.
"The Honourable Minister's records aptly testify to his steadfast demand for an egalitarian society of freedom, peace, unity, and where free-enterprise will thrive.
"In light of these facts, I am encouraging our brother-comrade, Auwal Rafsanjani to extend his applause to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander in Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces, for finding one of our own diligently qualified and fit to be appointed into the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
"Likewise, my brother-comrade, should take the success of Comrade Olorogun Festus Keyamo SAN, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development as (our) personal project, because he represents the combined efforts of our struggle. We must now be the change we have been fighting to see.
"The Civil Society Group of which many of us belong to, is for the betterment and wellbeing of the larger society - not one that provides an umbrella for persons who are driven by bitterness and hatred for our colleagues and other proon gressive elements in our society."
