The Governor of Benue State, Rev.Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday approved the appointment of Mr. Daniel Gbabo as his Principal Private Assistant on Due Process.
This is part of the governor's efforts to reduce cost of governance and surplus monetary allocation on contracts and other government procurements, and also to ensure effective and efficient monitoring of all public contracts and concerns including all related duties for the benefit of Benue people.
A letter dated 21st November 2023, from the office of the Secretary to the State Government shows that Mr. Gbabo will serve as Principal Private Assistant to Governor Hyacinth Alia on Due Process, Government House Administration.
This is the first time since the return of democracy in 1999 that the due process office will be created in Benue state and it is in tandem with Governor Alia’s drive to prudently use the resources of the state including taxpayers' money to do projects that will have bearing on the masses and make their lives better.
The Due process office as created by Governor Alia will among other things, work to ensure that resources for project execution are best deployed and value for the monies is obtained.
Similarly, It said that the new office will also promote prudence, transparency, and accountability in government spending, particularly in the procurement of goods and services as well as Government House.
In addition, the new office will promote professionalism in the execution of the procurement functions and streamline quality control practices.
The Due Process Office will also promote competition and transparency in project procurement leading to low and efficient cost of projects.
It will also ensure proper project packaging and definition by prioritizing and recording and ensuring proper synchronization among the MDAs.
This will eliminate a situation where many Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are pursuing the same or similar need simultaneously with a resultant lack of efficiency and effectiveness while creating overlapping and waste. The above and many other things will be corrected by the new office headed by Mr. Daniel Gbabo.
The new appointee hails from Gboko Local Government area, he is a seasoned administrator, an Economist, and a journalist.
