FCT Minister, Bar. Ezenwo Nyesome Wike, CON on Tuesday November 28, 2023, hosted 35 students of Senior Course 46 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji at the FCDA, Conference Hall, Garki, Abuja.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola welcomed the students to the FCT on the significant study tour saying their presence “reflects a commitment to learning leadership and the pursuit of knowledge and values that are crucial in addressing the complex challenges that our nation faces.”
The Minister lauded the theme of the study tour which is “Role of Government in Society’s Approach in Combating particular Internal Security Challenges for Enhanced Professional Effectiveness” as timely and relevant to the country’s peculiar needs.
He expressed gratitude to men and women of the Armed Forces who timeously dedicate their lives in protecting the Territorial Integrity of Nigeria and combating crime and terrorism within the borders of the country.
The Minister encouraged them to actively engage in discussions during their time in Abuja by sharing their insights, opinions and experiences as ‘we deliberate on how best to combat criminal activities in Abuja and the entire nation at large.’
The Hon. Minister regretted that an updated visual documentary of the Territory was not available to showcase to the students. In its place, he said, a literary works on FCT will be given to each of the students to read and acquaint more with the activities of the Federal Capital Territory.
Upon a request from the Team Lead of the Tour for attendance by the Hon. Minister, the Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola agreed to promptly convey message to the Hon.
Minister to attend as a Guest Lecturer on December 19, 2023, to educate the students on the theme: “Leadership, Governance and Development” in order to boost the students’ understanding of governance and development.

Olawale Obolo conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Commandant of the College Air Vice Marshal H.I Alhaji to the Hon. Minister for accepting the College’s request to visit the Federal Capital to a warm reception.
Brigadier General Obolo said his Team is one of the ten teams selected for this year’s environmental study tour to different states across the Federation. He added that his colleagues were also spread in Niger, Nassarawa, Kano, Benue, Enugu, Akwa-Ibom, Cross-River and Ogun States.
He further explained that “the essence of the Tour is to sharpen the intuition of the students of the College to be able to study the nation’s geopolitical, social and economic interactions and see how they can gain from such study tours to be better Officers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.”
General Obolo said the Command and Staff College has been Training mid-level Cadet Officers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, neighboring countries and beyond for over 47years.
The current students, essentially of the ranks of Major, have been on this Course since August and needed to syndicate what they have been studying with the situation on ground. Stated Brigadier General Obolo.
Highlight of the event was the exchange of gifts and pleasantries between the Permanent Secretary and the Team Lead on behalf of FCTA and the Staff School respectively.
The Commandant, FCT Security and Civil Defense Corps, Commdt. Odumoso Olusola, Director, FCT Department of State Services, Mr. Ado Muazu and the Director, FCT Department of Security Services, FCTA, Mr.Adamu Buba Gwari along with the Mandate Secretaries for Area Councils Services and Social Development Secretariats were in attendance.
