Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umaru-Farouq, was not detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) contrary to report in some sections of the media.

Feelers from sources at the Commission and some aides of the former minister confirmed that the former minister did not spend the night in the Commission’s detention facility.

After a long and productive session with operatives of the Commission, which ended about 10.30 pm on Monday, Sadiya was allowed to return home.

It was learnt that during the interaction with the EFCC operatives, she offered clarifications on a number of issues that the operatives raised during the session.

A source close to the development said: “I can confirm authoritatively that the EFCC did not detain the former Minister. She was allowed to return home and for her to return to the Commission on Tuesday afternoon in continuation of the interview.

” The Commission is interested in getting as much clarifications as possible that would assist operatives in their investigations,” he said.
