Nine Permanent Secretaries are set to be appointed in the nine secretariats of the FCT Administration in line with the provisions of the FCT Civil Service Commission Act, 2018, which was approved for implementation by President Bola Tinubu.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike disclosed this yesterday while fielding questions from reporters after an inspection tour of some projects.
The FCT Administration will also appoint a Head of Service, expected to be the most senior director in the administration.
The nine secretariats are Transport and Economic Planning, Agriculture and Rural Development, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership, Health and Environment, Women Affairs Secretariat, Education, Area Council, Legal Services and Social Development.
Wike said the most senior directors in each secretariat of FCTA would be appointed as permanent secretaries.
He assured that all the permanent secretaries will be appointed from within the ranks of the FCTA.
“It is my Secretariat and of course they will be from the FCT. They are not going to be from outside. That is the essence of giving hope that they are not retiring just as Directors. They are retiring, taken to the peak of their careers,” he said.
He said that he had met with all the senior directors in the FCTA to inform them of the development and tasked them on dedication to duty.
“President Tinubu in his wisdom and Renewed Hope agenda, insisted that the 2018 Act must be implemented, which has given FCT a Civil Service Commission.
“By this, the FCTA will have its own Head of Service, and then of course, it will have permanent secretaries for the nine secretariats.
“But again, that means that we will require a lot of commitments from them,” he said.
