NLC Shuts Down LP Secretariat, Calls For Abure’s Removal

In a dramatic turn of events, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) staged a forceful takeover of the Labour Party’s secretariat on Wednesday.

The move comes as a response to the party’s scheduled national convention slated for the end of this month, which the NLC vehemently opposes.

Additionally, the NLC is demanding the immediate removal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

The leadership of the NLC has leveled accusations against Abure, alleging that he is orchestrating a clandestine convention without consulting key stakeholders.

This move has sparked a significant confrontation between Abure and both the NLC and the House of Representatives caucus.

According to the NLC, Abure’s actions threaten to undermine the integrity and future of the Labour Party.

Workers participating in the protest have voiced concerns that Abure’s agenda aims to dismantle the party’s structure and erode its core values.

Despite their efforts, the protesting workers have faced resistance from the Nigeria Police Force, who have denied them entry into the party’s Secretariat.

The standoff between the NLC and the Labour Party underscores growing tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape, with implications for the future direction of the party and its relations with key stakeholders.
