Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rekindled the hope of Nigerians with the achievements he has recorded in the last year.
The FCT Minister said this when he carried out the final inspection of projects scheduled to be inaugurated in the FCT over the coming days by the President to mark his first year in office.
The projects the FCT Minister inspected are the Southern Parkway and the Abuja Rail Mass Transit system.
Barrister Wike disclosed that the projects were ready for inauguration and declared that the FCT Administration has kept its promises to Nigerians.
He said, “We’ve been to the Southern Parkway which is hundred percent ready. I think we are happy that all our efforts have come to fruition and Nigerians are quite happy that at the end of the day, the train service is available for Nigerians.
“So, for us as FCTA, we are very happy that it’s no longer a story. It’s a reality. It’s a promise made, and a promise fulfilled. So, we are very happy”.
Speaking further on the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the FCT, Barr. Wike said the President has done very well, not just in terms of physical infrastructure, but also in the aspect of human capital development.

He said the recent establishment of the FCT Civil Service Commission with the approval of the President has restored the hope of FCTA staff as they could now progress to the zenith of their careers.
The Minister however stated that one year was too short to expect a hundred percent from the President, adding that the President has also demonstrated his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He said, “I think the President has done very well in terms of reassuring Nigerians that he is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
“There are some areas that we have to still look into, but one year is not enough for you to really expect 100 percent. But from what we’ve seen on ground, he has rekindled hope for Nigerians”.
The Southern Parkway and commercial operation of the Abuja Light Rail are scheduled for commissioning by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, May 28 and May 29, 2024, respectively.
Other projects lined up for commissioning in the FCT include: the provision of engineering infrastructure to Wuye District on Thursday, May 30, 2024; the commissioning of the extended Inner Southern Expressway from the Outer Southern Expressway, for May 31; the full scope development of the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to Outer Northern Expressway, for June 1; the commissioning of Roads B6, B12, and Circle Road in the Abuja Central Area, scheduled for June 3; the commissioning of the expanded Outer Southern Expressway from Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 junction, billed for June 4; the provision of engineering infrastructure to Guzape District Lot II, for June 5; and the commissioning of the Vice President’s Residence scheduled for June 6, 2024.
