IPOB sit-at-home compliance: Imo Government seals banks
Sealed banks in Imo state

The Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodimma was said to have allegedly ordered the sealing of the banks that complied with the si-at-home directives issued by IPOB in protest for the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigeria Government.

Sequel to the order, all banks’ branches around Bank Road, Owerri capital of Imo State on Tuesday were shut down by the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) over alleged failure to open on Monday.

Some of the banks affected were Polaris Bank, Access Bank PLC, Skye Bank, Union Bank, First Bank, Heritage (Enterprise) Bank, Keystone Bank, and EcoBank.

The branches of the affected banks in the State, which are now under lock and key have remained locked as hundreds of customers were stranded at the time of filing this report.

Some of the bank staff interviewed confirmed to our correspondent that the operatives of Owerri Capital Development Authority sealed the banks.

However, when newsmen contacted, Mr Modestus Nwankpa, Special Adviser on Local Print said that the banks were sealed because of building approval plans and not over alleged failure to open on Monday.
