Independence artillery firing: Army urges Abuja residents not to panic

The Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, has urged Abuja residents not to panic as there would be artillery gun firing during the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary Parade holding at Eagle Square on Oct. 1.

The Commander, Guards Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Usman, disclosed this in a statement by the Guards spokesperson, Capt. Godfrey Abakpa, on Tuesday, in Abuja.

Usman said that the parade would involve a ceremonial parade and traditional firing of Artillery Gun during the occasion.

He urged those living within Asokoro and environs not to panic at the sound of the simulated firing of artillery guns during the anniversary parade.
