The remains of Vanguard’s reporter Tordue Salem was Saturday laid to rest at his family compound in Gaado community of Mbayion in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
Salem was declared missing on October 13, 2021 but his corpse was later discovered at a hospital morgue in Abuja on November 10, 2021, raising a lot of questions and controversies.
The late journalist was buried amidst tears from loved ones at a well-attended ceremony by people from all walks of life including a former First Lady of Benue State, Mrs Regina Akume.
President, Conference of Benue Journalists in Abuja, Dr. Emmanuel Anule, in a funeral oration, said the group had lost a committed member whose contribution will be difficult to fill in the nearest future.

Also, a member of the House of Representatives for Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, Dr John Dyegh, who represented the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, described the death of Salem as sad and unfortunate.
Dyegh said the National Assembly would stop at nothing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the late journalist’s death even as he consoled the family and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Earlier in a requiem mass, a visiting priest from the Catholic Diocese of Kastina-Ala charged Christians to always prepare to meet the lord whenever called upon.
