The Nigerian Army has assured that it would continue to collaborate with Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies particularly in the aspect of training and other areas of mutual interest.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya gave the assurance when the Commandant General NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Audi led senior officers of the Corps to pay him a courtesy visit at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Audi acknowledged the cordial relationship existing between the NA and the NSCDC, noting that it will be improved upon especially given the current security challenges confronting the nation.
The Commandant General who recalled that the corps has benefitted from military training in the past, added that a re-opening of such window will ultimately enhance the Corps' operational capacity.
He also expressed his appreciation to the NA for timely assistance in the training of female squad of the Corps with special capabilities, stressing that it has largely enhanced their capacity as they are currently deploying the acquired skills in safeguarding schools across the country.
Responding, the COAS assured that the NA will continue to build on the existing collaboration with the NSCDC and other security agencies, particularly in the aspect of training and other areas of mutual interest.
He commended the NSCDC for its exemplary commitment to the security of lives and property, particularly in safeguarding critical national infrastructure, urging them not to relent in their fight against economic saboteurs.
