The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the death of its State Publicity Secretary in Kwara, Tunde Ashaolu, as heartbreaking, a national tragedy and inexpressible sunset at dawn.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba, on Monday in Abuja, said it was heavily grieved over Ashaolu’s death.

“Indeed, the PDP family grieves; we are devastated and our hearts bleed. Ashaolu’s death is a shattering blow, not only to our great party, but also to our dear nation and humanity at large.

“Ashaolu was an exceptionally patriotic Nigerian, a quintessential publicist, dedicated and humble team player; highly organised personality, remarkably honest, cerebral, outspoken and loyal Partyman.

“He committed his life in the fight for the entrenchment of democratic tenets of good governance, equity, justice and the rule of law in our country.

“As a democrat, Ashaolu remained loyal to the ideals of the PDP and made inestimable contributions to the growth and development of our great party at both the state and national levels,”the statement read.

It stated that the PDP was deeply pained that Ashaolu left the stage at the time the party and the nation, Nigeria, needs his selfless service the most.

The party commiserated with the Ashaolu family, Kwara State PDP Executive Committee and its fold as well as the entire people of Kwara State.

The party prayed God to grant the late Ashaolu eternal rest as well as give his family and the PDP the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
