The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the training of Supervisory Registration Officers (SROs) and Registration Officers (ROs) for the Osun State Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The commission, in a bulletin it issued on Thursday and made available to newsmen in Abuja, said that the training followed the Training of Trainers (ToT) on the preparation for the state election scheduled for July 16.
It noted that the two days training of SROs which commenced on Thursday would end Friday, while training of ROs would take place from March 21 to March 22.
The bulletin quoted the Director-General of INEC’s Electoral Institute, Dr. Sa’ad Idris, in his goodwill describing CVR as an important aspect of an electoral process that aims to advance the inclusion of eligible citizens in the Voter Register.
He said it was also to guarantee the credibility of the process as well as provide the opportunity for many citizens who were unable to vote at the last governorship election to exercise their franchise.
The director-general appreciated the INEC Resident Electoral Commission (REC) in Osun for ensuring a successful training session in preparation for the state's forthcoming governorship elections.

The State REC, Prof. Abdulganiyu Raji, in his opening remarks urged participants to take the training seriously to acquaint themselves with the processes and procedures of the CVR and operations of the Voter Enrolment Device (VED) technology deployed for the exercise.
Raji said that was important as the participants would also be trainers at the training of Registration Officers.
He described the trainers as a think-tank for the Institute and the Commission.
The REC further highlighted the importance of the training as the commission devolves the CVR exercise to Registration Areas to ensure inclusive participation of voters at the Osun State Governorship Elections.
At the opening ceremony was the Administrative Secretary INEC Osun State, Alhaja Agboola, and other management staff.
