Security: Makinde reiterates commitment to secure lives, property in Oyo

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reiterated the commitment of his administration to secure lives and property in the state.

Makinde said this while receiving the Association of Retired Officers of the Department of State Services of Nigeria (DSS), Oyo State Chapter in his office on Thursday at the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

The Chairman of the association, Alhaji Lateef Akinola, led other members on the courtesy visit.

The governor who promised to continue strengthening the security architecture in the state, said his administration would involve the retired officers of the DSS with a view to improving the state security apparatus.

He appreciated the serving officers and men of the DSS for their cooperation, adding that his government would not relent in its efforts in providing adequate support for the smooth operation of the department in the state.

He further explained that the Western Nigerian Security Network, code-named Amotekun had been acting professionally and protecting everybody in the state.

He added that the Amotekun corps would continue to collaborate with all the conventional security operatives to curb criminal activities the state.

Earlier, Akinola commended the Makinde for his unique approach to the issue of security in the state.

He said the association was ready to support and cooperate with his administration.
