A 27- year-old man, Nurudeen Lawal, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly breaking into an apartment and stealing a plasma television.
 
The police charged the defendant, who resides in Ilupeju, Lagos, with burglary and stealing.
 
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
 
The prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendant committed the offenses on March 15 at No. 23, Fagbile Rd., Ilupeju, Lagos.
 
Emuerhi said that the defendant broke into an apartment belonging to the complainant, Miss Onyeka Nwachi, and stole a 32-inch plasma television valued at N84, 000.
 
He said that the defendant was apprehended by the complainant and her brother.
 
Emuerhi said that the offenses contravened sections 287 and 309(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
 
Magistrate L.A. Owolabi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
 
Owolabi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.
 
He adjourned the case until May 18 for mention.
