The Speaker, of Kwara House of Assembly, Mr. Yakubu Danladi, says the assembly is not a rubber stamp legislature.

Danladi made the assertion on Tuesday during a Special Plenary commemorating the Third Year Anniversary of Ninth Legislature in the state.

According to him, the Kwara ninth legislature is not a rubber stamp in view of the monumental development attained across the three senatorial districts of the state in the past three years.

“Those calling us names, like rubber stamp Assembly, but l always ask what is a rubber stamp Assembly in spite the fact we were able to attract development to our various constituencies,” the speaker said.

“I know we tried our possible best as far as the ninth Assembly is concerned since we passed bills that have a direct impact on the quality of the lives of our people,” Danladi emphasized.

The speaker said that under the ninth Legislature, 25 bills and 50 motions were passed within the last three years, including Kwara State Education Trust Fund Bill.

Some of the other bills passed, according to him, were Kwara State Political Offices Gender Composition Bill; Kwara State Bureau, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; Kwara Urban and Regional Development Bill; Kwara State Legislative Autonomy Fund Management Bill, and Kwara State Judiciary Autonomy Fund Management Bill.

Danladi applauded the people of his Ilesha-Gwanara constituency for giving him the opportunity to represent them in the state legislature and promised not to let them down.

On his part, the House Leader, Mr. Abubakar Olawoyi, described the relationship between the Executive and the state Legislature as cordial towards delivering dividends of democracy to the people.

Olawoyin lauded Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his people-oriented projects in the state which, he said, had improved the well-being of the people.

Other lawmakers, in their contributions, enumerated their individual empowerment initiatives and projects facilitated to their respective constituencies to uplift the constituents.

The third-year anniversary of the ninth legislature was witnessed by some former lawmakers of the House, some members of the state executive council, and some eminent personalities from all walks of life.
