The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudiness and thunderstorms from Friday to Sunday across the country.

 

NiMet’s weather forecast outlook released on Thursday in Abuja predicted cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine over the Northern region with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kebbi and the Sokoto States in the morning hours.

 

According to it, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Adamawa, Katsina, Kano and the Kaduna States later in the day.

 

“The North Central region is expected to be cloudy with chances of thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger and the Kwara States during the morning hours.

 

”Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kogi and the Federal Capital Territory.

 

“There are prospects of intermittent rains over parts of Oyo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and the Bayelsa States during morning hours. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over entire inland and Coastal cities.”

 

NiMet predicted cloudy skies on Saturday with intervals of sunshine over the northern region.

 

lt also predicted the chances of thunderstorms over Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States during the morning hours.

 

It forecast thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Kano, Yobe and Borno States later in the day.

 

“The North Central region is expected to be cloudy with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Niger and Kwara States during the morning hours.

 

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau and Kogi States.

 

“Cloudy atmosphere is anticipated over the inland cities and the coastal region of the country in the morning hours. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over most places in the region. ”

 

According to NiMet, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the northern region in the morning hours on Sunday.

 

It anticipated thunderstorms over Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa and Borno States later in the day.

 

NiMet envisaged a cloudy atmosphere over the North central region during the morning hours.

 

The agency predicted inland cities of the South and coastal cities of the South to be cloudy.

 

According to it, rains are expected over most places in the region later in the day.

 

“To reduce incidences of erosion and overflow of water beyond its normal limit, gutters and waterways should be cleared of debris and obstacles to ensure free flow of water.

 

“There are good prospects of continuous rains over the coastal cities of the South within the period of validity of the forecast and as such flash floods are likely to affect some parts of the region.

 

”The public is advised to take adequate precautions. Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it advised.
