The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Yobe, Malam Garba Umar, has promised to revamp education in the state if elected.

Umar said at the inauguration of the party’s office in Bakata, Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe that if elected, he would employ more teachers and build more primary and secondary schools.

He observed that the education sector in Yobe had not been receiving the attention it deserved.

Umar said the NNPP would constitute committees of relevant stakeholders at the ward level to map out strategies to reverse the situation.

“We will ensure that all children of the poor get an education to become useful in the future.

“We will try our best to ensure that Western and Islamic education of our children is improved upon,’’ Umar assured.
