Ihonvbere plays host to two senators Victor Oyofo, Yoda Braimoh   .....As Customs CG also granted audience

Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Owan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Professor Julius Ihonvbere on Wednesday received in audience the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi who paid him a courtesy visit.

The Nigeria Customs Service and the House of Representatives have been dealing with a frosty relationship that has brewed between both parties due to the refusal of the Customs Service to appear before the Adhoc Committee set up by the House of Representatives to investigate the disposal of Public Property by Agencies between 2010-2022, to unravel the extent of illegal auctioning of Public Property, non-remittance of revenue realized into the Consolidated Revenue Account, (CRA).

The Committee is headed by Rt Hon. Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, and he recently vowed that all invited Government Agencies and officials no matter how highly placed must appear before the Committee.

Hon. Ihonvbere also played host to two prominent Afenmai sons, Senators Victor Kassim Oyofo and Yisa Braimoh respectively, who paid him a solidarity visit.

The two Senators, who served in quick succession at the National Assembly between 1999-2011, were warmly received by the House Leader into his office before going into a closed door parley with them where issues pertaining to the accelerated development of Afenmai land in particular and the country at large were discussed.

It is worthy of note that Senator Victor Oyofo served as the Senate Chief Whip between 1999-2003, and got re-elected to serve between 2003-2007, while Senator Yisa Braimoh succeeded Senator Oyofo and served between 2007-2011.
