Kogi State Election: SDP Gubernatorial Candidate Pledges to End Era of Corruption and Incompetency

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate for Kogi State, Alhaji Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, has pledged to end the era of corruption and incompetency in the state if elected on November 11, 2023.

Ajaka made the pledge on October 18, 2023, while responding to the endorsement of his candidacy by the Southeast Political Enlightenment and Mobilization, Kogi State Chapter (SEPEM).

The SDP candidate, who was represented by the Secretary of his Campaign Council, Hon. Abdulrahaman Wuya, said that the current administration of Governor Yahaya Bello has mismanaged the state, leading to the collapse of the economy and the suffering of the people.

Wuya also accused Bello of nepotism and corruption, alleging that he has stalled three major projects inherited from the previous administration due to lack of skills and the right knowledge. The projects are the UN's project of infrastructural development of 10 cities in the world including Lokoja (21st century standard), the Kogi state Airport, and the Gananja shitaku bridge.

Wuya described Ajaka as a "Salvatore at the nick of time," praising him as a "welfarist, a humanist and visionary leader with mission and roadmap defined."

He thanked SEPEM for their endorsement and support, and urged all Kogi voters to vote for Ajaka on November 11th. He stated that the future of Kogi state and its children depends on it.

In their endorsement speech, SEPEM Secretary, Elder Watts Okonwo, said that the group decided to endorse Ajaka because of his track record of performance in public service and his commitment to the development of Kogi state.

Okonwo, said that SEPEM is confident that Ajaka will bring about the desired change in Kogi state if elected governor.

The Kogi state gubernatorial election is scheduled to hold on November 11, 2023.
