A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and businessman, Martins Osakue, has emphasized that Governor Godwin Obaseki alone cannot determine his successor within the party.
Osakue insisted that broader consultations with party leaders and the electorate are necessary to select an acceptable candidate.
He also stressed that the issue of zoning has not been a tradition within the PDP, and leaders should focus on identifying a competent candidate through careful consideration and consensus.
Osakue urged the governor to prioritize unity within the party and recognize the importance of collective decision-making in the selection process.
The statements come as discussions about Obaseki’s potential successor in the 2024 governorship election continue to unfold.
