The flag bearer of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo state, Dr. Azemhe Azena, has promised an effective governance which is the forerunner of any peaceful, secure and progressive state. 

Azena, popularly called Home Boy, said it is the duty of any government to be responsible and responsive to the people and he is ready to unleash good governance in serving the people of Edo state, far different from and devoid of the nonchalance of the past. 

Speaking recently with members of Azena Forerunners caucus, the governorship candidate said he knows where the shoe pinches his people as he has never been a 'foreign' citizen of Edo. 

According to him, his government will prioritise the state interest by running an accountable and all-inclusive administration whereby all citizens will have a say in the day-to-day running of the government.

In his word, 'We will keep the government right-sized, block leakages and ensure value for money spent on the delivery of projects and services.

'Reform, empower and reposition the state civil service and all government agencies and department to deliver efficient services to every citizen will be paramount to our administration.

'I will work cooperatively with the legislature and the judiciary to advance the interest and progress of Edo State and ensure laws back all government actions, driven by public policies and the collective interest of citizens'

As a candidate of the party that believes in a working democracy, Azena promised a transparent governance to allow citizens of the state to relate with government directly and 

mobilise people and resources, to advance their collective security, progress and wellbeing.
