Soludo takes early lead as Anambra elects new governor

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Prof. Charles Soludo who is running for the Office of Governor of Anambra State, has taken an early lead in the polls across seven Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Soludo who is contesting under the state’s stronghold platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), is already coasting in seven of the 21 LGAs of the state, according to the results so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The renowned Economist has also dusted two of his closest contenders, Valentine Ozigbo (PDP) and Andy Uba (APC) in their own LGAs.

In the results so far released by INEC, Soludo is leading in: Orumba South, Njijoka, Awka South, Onitsha South, Anambra East, Anaocha, and Anambra South.

As at 5am when INEC updated the results, Soludo was leading in five LGAs. By the time two new LGAs were announced, the APGA candidate’s lead rose to seven.
