Daniel Onjeh, former Chairman, Projects Development Institute (PRODA) Enugu, has joined the race for Benue South Senatorial seat on the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC).
Onjeh announced this on Monday while addressing hundreds of party supporters in Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue.
“For the umpteenth times, I have thrown my hat into the ring to contest the Senate in 2023 and unlike the previous times that I’ve heeded this call, this time, it’s God’s appointed time so I shall be there,” he said.
Onjeh said that his aim was to ensure qualitative representation for the people of the zone and expressed confidence that he would clinch the seat in 2023.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries at the event included Sen. Ameh Ebute, a former President of the Senate, Mr. Abba Yaro, the immediate past state Chairman among others.
In his speech, Ebute said he was endorsing Onjeh’s senatorial ambition because he has demonstrated competence, zeal, and commitment to offer effective and efficient representation to the people at the National Assembly.
“Onjeh is one of the young, unblemished Idoma politicians I know who has shown commendable leadership qualities and a burning desire for the development of Idoma nation.
“I think he deserves all our support in order to actualize his senatorial ambition in 2023,” Ebute said.
Onjeh was the APC candidate for Benue South at the 2015 General Elections where he lost to the then President of the Senate David Mark, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
