Yahaya Bello says APC national convention date sacrosanct
Governor Yahaya Bello (GYB)

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi and Chairman of Security Committee has assured members that the March 26 date for APC national convention remained sacrosanct.

Bello made this known on Tuesday in Abuja while speaking to newsmen after a meeting of the Security Committee of the National Convention.

According to him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) would also come out stronger after the national convention.

Bello said every member of the party, committees and delegates are currently working assiduously towards a successful convention.

“Every Committee, just like the security committee, all the leaders, all the delegates, members and stalwarts of the APC are enthusiastic, gearing and working towards a successful national convention of our great party

“With this, we want to assure Nigerians that APC, as the biggest political party in Africa, we are coming off a convention stronger, more solid.

“So everybody is working assiduously to ensure we have a successful and hitch-free exercise come 26th of March 2022,” Bello said.

Speaking further on the uncertainty of the proposed national convention, Bello reassured that it would hold as slated.

He added that all the contestants are now working in unity and going in the same direction of peace.

“As human beings, we do not know tomorrow, but bearing all other unforeseen circumstances, I want to assure you that 26th of March is certain.

“It is a D-day, it is a day our party will go into a convention and come off very strong.

“We are meeting and putting heads together to ensure that we come up very strongly, so nothing is stopping us from going ahead from conducting this exercise.

“As we speak right now, all the contestants are talking in unison and leaders are working accordingly, while all other members, including delegates are moving in the same direction.

“Nigerians are even giving us all the maximum support that we require. That is why you can see the calibre of people that are involved in this all-important exercise.

“It is going to be more successful than any other convention so far held in Nigeria,” Bello said.

Present at the meeting were former Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau; DIG Operations, Bala Senchi; Sen. Stella Odua; FCT Commissioner of Police; Babayo Sunday, former FCT Commissioner of Police, and AIG Bala Ciroma, among others
