The political narrative seems to be changing in Edo state especially the Edo South Senatorial district as the two major parties this week collapsed their respective structures into the Labour Party.

This followed over two thousand members of the People's Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress's defection to the Labour Party.

This may not be unconnected with the Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Barrister Ned Imasuen, who is the immediate past senior legislative Aide to Senator Matthew Urhoghide.

Comrade John Idahosa, one of the decampees, told journalists that they decided to join the Labour Party over the unresolved crisis in the People's Democratic Party that led to the party producing parallel candidates.

"We can not be floating on top of the water. Governor Godwin Obaseki and Chief Dan Orbih's case further worsened the party crisis. Since Senator Matthew Urhoghide is not in the race, we decided to follow someone who is capable, a man that understands the workings of the senate, that person is Barrister Ned Imasuen.

"One thing you people may not understand is that, at the end of the day, PDP may not have candidates in the election. And APC too is not free from crisis. So, the best and most suitable candidate for the Edo South Senatorial district is Barrister Ned Imasuen of the Labour Party. The wind is blowing and it is high time we also do away with PDP and APC in Edo state. "

Receiving the decampees, the Edo state Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party, and Barrister Ned Imasuen said it is time the youths take their destiny into their own hands while commending the courage of the defectors.

He promised to change the narrative of the Edo South if voted as the senator, come February 16th, 2023.
