Doma United Football Club of Gombe on Wednesday in Abuja beat Ozalla Football Academy (OFA) 3-0 to advance to the round of 32 of the 2023 Federation Cup competition.

The round of 64 fixture played at the FIFA Goal Project pitch at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium saw Ozalla FA failing to take charge.
Ozalla FA, who are Anambra’s representatives, had several goal-scoring chances but kept on missing their target to fail to score any goal in the first half.
However, Doma United took over dominance in the second half and by the 67th minute, Simon Chisom scored to give them the lead.
In the 79th minute and third minute of added time, Barnabas David scored to grab the driver’s seat.
Speaking after the match, Akinade Onigbinde, the Head Coach of Doma United, said his team suffered in the first half as a result of fatigue.
“But we were able to kick-start our game in the second half by having two to three changes which helped us to win the game.”
He however acknowledged that his opponents were good players.
“My opponents are good and they are young and very agile.
“But my team will continue to work harder and we will continue to train more.
“Usually we train rigorously a day after every match played and it has been helping us, and with this type of training we were able to achieve our set targets,” the coach said.
He also stated that he has sighted one or three players in this game played. I would have loved to have an invitation (to the national teams) for the players.
“This shows that the junior ones are emerging stronger and it is evident in their performances,” he said.
Onigbinde noted that the officiating was good now, saying this shows that the referees are advancing and having perfect officiating in Nigeria now.
Doma United is qualified to represent Gombe State after qualifying for the state final, where they beat Gombe FC 9-8 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in regulation time in the state’s final match.
