Offa Volleyball Club (VC) of Kwara, on Sunday defeated Kano Pillars 3-1 in the men’s category of the ongoing 2023 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.
The match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja saw Kano pillars winning only the second set of the match by 28-26.
Offa VC started the match on a bright note, winning the first set 25-20, before Kano Pillars bounced back to win the second set 28-26.
Kano Pillars eventually lost the third and fourth sets 25-27 and 27-29 respectively to pave way for the Kwara team to dominate.
Offa displayed their supremacy in the game with overall result (25-20, 26-28, 27-25, 29-27).
Suleiman Ajeigbe, Head Coach of Offa VC, said after the game that they were in the league to defend their title.
“We are happy to win all our matches so far played in the league. Our first match was against Spartans Spikers; we won 3-0. We also defeated Kada Star 3-1 in our second game.
“We humbled the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) team 3-1 in our third match and now we won our fourth match against Kano Pillars 3-1.
“The outcome of the match showed that we came very prepared for the championship,” he said.
He also said that they would restructure the team to ensure that they maintain their winning streak in subsequent matches.
“Our next match is against Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday and we pray that God on our side, we will win,” he added.
The COAS Spikers , NSCDC and Sunshine Spikers also recorded victories in their respective matches on Sunday.
While COAS Spikers defeated Kada Stars 3-2, the Immigration team lost 1-3 to Sunshine Spikers, as NSCDC overpowered Police team 3-1.
Offa VC will next play the Immigration team, while Kano Pillars battle NSCDC on Monday.
Eighteen teams are participating in the league comprising of nine male teams and nine female teams.
The 2023 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League which started on July 12 is expected to end on July 23 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.
