Kwara Utd find their rhythm, pip Abia Warriors 1-0

Kwara United returned to winning ways on Sunday to earn their first league 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors.

The match day 2 of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

A goal on the dot of first half, scored by Isaiah Ejeh, decided the outcome of the tense match.

The home team, under much pressure, needed to win the game, to please their home fans after slumping to a defeat away to Katsina United, on Oct. 1.

Ejeh tapped in from close range to put the home team ahead in the contest which also saw very anxious moments in the goal mouth of both sides.

Abia Warriors Coach Erasmus Onuh said his team lost concentration but stated that he would work on lapses noticed during the game ahead of his next match.

He also attributed the loss to fatigue after the team journeyed for two days from Abia on account of bad roads.

“Bad roads will kill our league. I think it’s time we have an arrangemrnt with airlines,” he said.

He, however, saluted the technical bench of Kwara United.

“Coach Kabir Dogo has really done so well for his team considering that he built the team from the scratch this season.

His Kwara United counterpart, Dogo, admitted that his team was under pressure, given the doggedness of the hard-fighting Abia Warriors.
