The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, has applauded the Super Eagles for reaching the knockout stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The astute sports administrator said the Super Eagles are on the right path after they defeated Guinea Bissau in their final group game.
Nigeria qualified for the last-16 of Africa's biggest Sports tournament on Monday unbeaten in the group stage, conceding just once.
And Adams, the former General Manager of Remo Stars, said the three-time winners have continued to improve with every game.
He described Jose Peseiro's men as resilient, patriotic and dedicated, tipping them to go all the way to the final.
The member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, however, charged the team to sustain the momentum and remain focused till the very end.
"I wish to congratulate our gallant Super Eagles for reaching the knockout stage of the AFCON with a 1-0 win over Guinea Bissau," he said in a statement.
"Clearly, African football has improved and there are no more minnows. Who would have thought that Equatorial Guinea would thrash Ivory Coast?
"No one saw Cape Verde topping their group ahead of Ghana and Egypt. In fact, the Black Stars have been eliminated while the hosts are on the brink.
"Despite the numerous injury setbacks, our team have progressed. They are improving with every game and the ultimate is to win the competition.
"The lads have shown patriotism, dedication and commitment to their fatherland. They are on the right track and I wish them well.
"Therefore, I want to charge to continue on this path. We are just four games away from winning the title. Let's do it again Eagles".
The Super Eagles will take on West African rival Cameroon in the round of 16 in Abidjan on Saturday for a place in the Quarter finals.
