Igali, Akindoju, Tikon re-elected Presidents of wrestling, tennis, table tennis federations

Daniel Igali, the immediate-past President of the board of Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), on Thursday in Abuja returned to his position after being re-elected as the federation’s president.

Igali was re-elected unopposed and he polled the maximum 11 votes to re-emerge the President for a third consecutive term.

 

Christopher Amkpila from the North-Central zone was also voted in unopposed as the new Vice-President after polling the maximum 11 votes.

 

Igali, after his victory, thanked his board members for the support he had received in the last eight years, adding that he could already forsee a cordial relationship.

 

“I make bold to say that from what I have seen here, this is probably going to be one of the best boards we have had in the NWF and I look forward to improving on the performances we have recorded over the past decade.

 

“We’ve always aimed for the very top, just as was witnessed in the just-concluded Tokyo Olympic Games. Our plan was to go for the gold medals, but there were slight hitches.

 

“But I think we still have three years to work on it and we are hopeful that we will go back to the 2024 Paris Olympics and make Nigeria proud,” he said.

 

Also, Dayo Akindoju was re-elected unopposed as the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) after polling the maximum 11 votes.

 

Isiaku Tikon was also re-elected as president of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) after polling the maximum 12 votes.
