The Super Eagles of Nigeria will not be flying the flag of Nigeria in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup after failing to beat the Black Stars of Ghana in Abuja.

The match played in a full to capacity Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday saw the Super Eagles held to a one all draw. Only an outright victory would have secured the home team a ticket to the tournament with only an outright victory.

The Black Stars who obviously had their game plan intact drew the first blood through Arsenal's Thomas Party's strike in the 9th minutes of the game that beat Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, thereby putting the Super Eagles under tremendous pressure.

Few minutes later, the Super Eagles fought back to pull the goal back through Troost Ekong from the penalty spot in the 24th minute after Lukman Ademola was adjudged to have been fouled and the intervention of the video assistant referee, VAR saw the referee award the penalty,

The home team's push for the winning goal did not yield any positive result as the Black Stars held on to finish the match one all and qualify via the away goal rule. The Ghanaian team obviously were not put under any form of pressure by the Nigeria side who many expected should have been hungrier,

The Nigerian team made up of mostly foreign bred players easily fagged out midway into the match despite all the supports given to them by the Abuja fans. Unlike before, the fans stood with the team throughout the ninety minutes without any form of booing. The Black Stars were more comfortable with the the ball growing stronger into the match as if they were the home side.

After the match both officials of the two teams refused to appear for the post match conference keeping journalist waiting endlessly.
