…….says they are raising future football stars for Nigeria

National Chairman of Young People's Party, (YPP), Comrade Bishop Amakri has showered encomium on former Nigeria International, Femi Ajilore and his team for organizing the Kids Super Cup declaring that such an event will go a long way in producing more future football stars for the country.

Amakri stated this during the closing ceremony of the event which took place at Wakanda Sports Arena, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

Speaking further, Comrade Amakri noted “My impression of what Femi Ajilore and his team are doing remains very high. I am seeing a future, I mean a lot of the players here are future stars that Nigeria should be looking up to. And again, I want to advise the parents that they should not relent in encouraging the young boys to come out and engage themselves in this kind of activity.

“I also want to commend Femi Ajilore and his team for putting this together. I want to advise them to keep it up and must not lower the bar, and if possible they should also extend this kind of event to other age groups, like under 16, under 17, maybe from there we can scout out one or two players that can be injected into the U-17 because the essence of some of this kind of tournaments actually is to get them quickly into the next National team after discovering them.

On why he is so passionate about supporting Femi Ajilore and his team he said,

“Some of us have paid our dues in grassroots football development and we are still paying. The passion that I have will never go away. I will continue to remain resolute in what I believe in that young people must be engaged. There are two things to it; one, you are nurturing young stars, and two, you are also curbing the vices in our society. And I think with these two things if we can be up in our doing I assure you that the society will become better for all of us. Also, Nigeria being the giant of Africa should not be having issues of scarcity of players whenever we want to go for a tournament. I am amazed sometimes when people will be saying we do not have midfielders, we don’t have goalkeepers or whatever, like the young boy I saw here today, the very good goalkeeper that you can put an eye on him and you nurture him well and before you know you see him somewhere coming to serve his country,” he concluded

Meanwhile, the technical director of the event, Paschal Clement gave more insight on why they decided to put up the event,

The Kids Sup cup is an initiative we brought together, the three coaches, Lawal, myself, and Femi Ajilore. We saw that it is not enough to train but to have a competition where they can showcase their skills and compete among themselves. The passion to see these kids excel was what motivated us to organize the event and we are very pleased with the turnout. Most of the teams that participated in this particular event did not participate in the Kids football league. So, we are hoping to have more teams in the next edition.
