Edo 2024: I will turn the fortune of Edo people around despite its sorry state of affairs....Prince Afegbua , APC Governorship Aspirant

The All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship aspirant in the September 2024 Edo Governorship election, Prince Kazeem Afegbua has disclosed that if the party gives him the opportunity to lead the state, he will turn it around for the good of the people noting that he has what it takes to make the state far more better than it is.

Afebua, a former Commissioner in Edo State made this known in a briefing in Abuja declaring that only him can turn the fortune of Edo people around despite the beggarly state the outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki has plunged to over seven years ago .

He further said that whoever will take over from Gov. Obaseki should be prepare like he because the state is currently bedeviled with an unwholesome debt that only the courageous and focus person can withstand the sorry plight Edo people have been made to face in this past years.

According to him: ” For me, anybody who is taking over from the governor of Edo state with 325 billion as our debts will have a huge task on our hand. So, we must put our thinking cap on and think outside the box that can generate ideas. We must keep the conversation around governance to ensure that we are able to do that which which will help our people to advance their collective interest.

” And ensure that we spend our collective patrimony in a manner that will benefits a wider majority of Edolites. Presently, they are they demolishing library and they are building shoprites. It is all about profits and loss for them. Governance is to deliver service and create enabling environment for businesses to flourish.

” But, in Edo, what they do is to demolish library which can produce more than 10 shoprites. Because it is through research and human capacity development that you generate ideas that answer to societal and existential problems confronting any state or the country. In Edo they have demolish our library instead of turning it and making it a research center. And they have built a shoprites there. We will not do that.

” We will build e-library that will meet with the contemporary demands of new age. That will also help to take care of our domestic furniture. Build a city that when you are entering Benin you, you will know you are going to furniture city. A city that everything about furniture is in it. If you want to buy, production, packaging and exporting distribution across the country will be available. We have so much to do”, he stated.
He maintained that his selling point is the ability for him to deploy his emotional intelligence to ensure the state is in good stead for developments. He said he connect easily with people and that will attract more opportunities to Edo people.

He said: ” I am not like the itinerant politician that you see. Those who say one thing in the morning and do a different thing in the evening. My yes is yes, and my no is no. Alot of people who have interacted with me over the years knows that I don’t bend when it comes to issue because I am speaking truth to power all the time.

” I have been criticising government before now. I want to be criticise now. I want a platform where I can also showcase my own leadership credentials. I am a very blunt person. A straightforward person. I have capacity and very courageous. I don’t fear anything. If you call me fearless you will be right. But, the overall credentials is emotional intelligence. I connect with people so well”, he noted.
