NMC assures production of mathematical sciences specialists

The National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja on Friday reiterated its readiness to adequately respond to the obvious decline in the production of specialists in mathematical sciences.

Its Director/Chief Executive, Prof. Promise Mebine, made the declaration at his maiden interactive session with the centre’s employees.

Mebine stressed that NMC, by its mandate, would bridge the intellectual gap in the production of adequate and qualified academic manpower in the Mathematical sciences.

He pointed out the need for the centre to reinvigorate academic activities to meet the needs of the academia and industry.

“I commend the efforts of former chief executives in steering the centre to its present height and promise to build on the solid foundation they laid to make NMC an international Centre of Excellence in Mathematical Sciences.

“I resolve to ensure that the Mathematical Sciences library which serves as a resource hub for teaching, learning and research is made up-to-date with contemporary academic materials,’’ he said.

He added that the resolution became necessary to meet the resource needs of the mathematical sciences academic community.

Mebine urged employees of the centre to work as a team without tribal or religious sentiments to accomplish its goals and mandate.
